Deu 1.30

"The Lord you God Who goeth before you, He shall fight for you."

There comes a word which I think will bring some of a you a very tender comfort, for the Spirit of God goes on to speak of the wilderness and what happened there:"Thou hast seen how that the Lord thy God bare thee, as a man doth bear his son."

Has He not done so through all the wilderness days that we have ever known? Will He not do so through any dry places that may lie before us? Then is there anything, can there by anything to fear? We are His soldiers, thank God for that; we are His nurslings, too. We are never too grow-up to be, as Brother Lawrence puts it, "extremely caressed by Him."

FAITH

How Beautiful

How Beautiful the hands that served
The Wine and the Bread and the sons of the earth
How beautiful the feet that walked
The long dusty road and the hill to the cross
How Beautiful, how beautiful, how beautiful is the body of Christ

How Beautiful the heart that bled
That took all my sins and bore it instead
How beautiful the tender eyes
That choose to forgive and never despise
How beautiful, how beautiful, how beautiful is the body of Christ

And as He lay down His life
We offer this sacrifice
That we will live just as He died
Willing to pay the price
Willing to pay the price

How Beautiful the radiant bride
Lyrics www.allthelyrics.com/lyrics/twila_paris/
Who waits for her Groom with His light in her eyes
How Beautiful when humble hearts give
The fruit of pure love so that others may live
How beautiful, how beautiful, how beautiful is the body of Christ

How beautiful the feet that bring
The sound of good news and the love of the King
How Beautiful the hands that serve
The wine and the bread and the sons of the Earth
How Beautiful, how beautiful, how beautiful is the body of Christ

Give Me a Quiet Mind

When winds are blowing, waves are rising, falling
And all the air is full of dust and spray;
When voices, like to sea birds’ plaintive calling,
Confuse my day;

Then, then I know Thee, Lord of highest heaven
In newborn need discover Thee, and find
Nought can discomfort him to whom is given
A quiet mind.

When hopes have failed, and heavy sadness crusheth,
And doubt and fear would weave their deadly spell,
Then thought of Thee my troubled spirit husheth;
And all is well.

In midnight hours when weariness ignoreth
Heaven’s starry host, and battle wounds are mine,
Then Thy right hand uplifteth and outpoureth
Love’s oil and wine.

O Blessed Lord, beyond the moment’s sorrow
I see above, beneath, before, behind–
Eternal Love. Give me today, tomorrow,
A quiet mind.

One Step at a Time

"In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6

"Take one step at a time, every step under Divine warrant and direction. Ever plan for yourself in simple dependence on God. It is nothing less than self-idolatry to conceive that we can carry on even the ordinary matters of the day without his counsel. He loves to be consulted...Consider no circumstances too clear to need his direction. In all thy ways, small as well as great; in all thy concerns, personal or relative, temporal or eternal, let him be supreme. Who of us has not found the unspeakable 'peace' of bringing to God matters too minute or individual to be entrusted to the most confidential ear?... If in true poverty of spirit we go every morning to our Lord, as knowing not how to guide ourselves for this day; our eye constantly looking upward for direction, the light will come down. He shall direct thy paths…. Let the will be kept in a quiet, subdued, cheerful, readiness, to move, stay, retreat, turn to the right hand or to the left, at the Lord’s bidding; always remembering that is best which is least our own doing, and that a pliable spirit ever secures the needful guidance…. No step well prayed over will bring ultimate regret.” ~Charles Bridges

Jesus, what a friend for sinners

“When my anxious thoughts multiply within me, your consolations delight my soul” (Psalm 94:19).

Jesus! What a friend for sinners!
Jesus! Lover of my soul;
Friends may fail me, foes assail me,
He, my Saviour, makes me whole.

[refrain] Hallelujah! what a Saviour! Hallelujah, what a friend!
Saving, helping, keeping, loving, He is with me to the end.

Jesus! what a strength in weakness!
 Let me hid myself in Him;
Tempted, tired, and sometimes failing,
He, my strength, my vict’ry wins.

Jesus! what a help in sorrow!
While the billows o’er me roll,
Even when my heart is breaking,
He, my comfort, helps my soul.

Jesus! what a guide and keeper
While the tempest still is high,
Storms about me, night o’ertakes me,
He, my pilot, hears my cry.

Jesus! I do now receive You, more than all I You I find.
You have granted me forgiveness, I am Yours, and You are mine.
Jesus! I do now receive You, more than all in You I find,
You have granted me forgiveness, I am Yours, and You are mine.

time-out

where do i go to get a few minutes alone?
Jesus often spent His time in solitary with His Father.
it is virtually impossible to meet the endless needs of others without grace and strength from the Lord.
